New flannel shirts crafted from rare Over 15oz Fabric now available
This shirt is made from an exceptionally heavy, yarn-dyed check fabric weighing over 15oz. Although it is 100% cotton, the original UES selvedge fabric has the volume and depth of color you would normally expect from wool. By using extremely thick yarns and weaving them slowly on old-style shuttle looms, the fabric retains its natural softness and rich texture without placing excessive tension on the threads. Only a handful of looms in Japan are capable of weaving fabric this thick, which makes production very limited and the material highly rare.
The selvedge can be seen on the folded edge of the left front panel, a detail unique to shuttle-loom weaving. The hem is finished with piping and designed to be worn untucked, giving the shirt an outerwear-like presence. The large-scale check pattern enhances this rugged look, and skilled craftsmen carefully align the pattern during cutting to ensure a clean, balanced finish. The shirt is completed with genuine buffalo horn buttons, each with its own natural color and character, adding to the individuality of the garment. This is a piece you can truly enjoy as it ages with wear.
